Running on Empty

Not sure how relatable this is to non runners, but if you run, you know that every once in awhile you get phlegm in your throat and your nose need to be blown. Well, as a female not able to rely on years of practice of publicly burping, nose blowing, etc., when I feel the need arising, I start to look ahead for places to discreetly release whatever bodily fluid has built up. Yesterday, at mile 6, I saw my chance, no cars coming, an empty sidewalk ahead of me, so I held my left nostril shut and snorted out of my right. Success — all the way up to the point that a gooey mess landed directly on the toes of my mesh-upper Nike Frees. Yep, laser-pointed accuracy directly to my right shoe. You have to laugh…and then go home and wash your shoe.
